Veterans at Reveille

Our gratitude Howard for the great video.

The prologue was taken from a Turning Point letter by Dr. David Jeremiah dated Sept 24 2008. Funny thing is I received them both on the same morning.

At the Arlington National Cemetery there is a memorial tomb that contains the remains of unknown soldiers from various wars, namely World Wars I and II; The Tomb of the Unknowns. The inscription on the tomb reads: "Here Rests in Honored Glory an American Soldier Known but to God."

If you are ever in doubt about what makes a person great, do not look to the Hollywood elite or the upper crust of society. Greatness is not found in possessions, power, or prestige. Rather, it is found in goodness, humility, service, and character, all of which can be found in the majority of military men and women. They don't sign up to defend their country with the goal of being honored and glorified. They simply believe they are called to carry out this awesome responsibility.

What is it that you are pursuing in life; more things and more status, or do you desire to carry out God's will and see Him glorified? If you truly wish to be great, follow the example of selfless, humble American soldiers, and be a devoted Christian "known but to God."

Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite , LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back.'
